Editor's Letter / February

Hello, February 2019!

Ah, the month of love and fashion, when people will come up to you and ask what you’re doing on That Special Day. Some of us have no plans, and some are trying to out-do their past selves. Personally, I’m going with fair-trade chocolate while watching the New York Fashion Week live runway shows this month. Not all too compelling, perhaps, but read on.

This is possible one of the most exciting February months to date. There is so much to share and talk about, but for the sake of keeping this letter under 500 words, I will share with you my favourite bit this month: an impromptu visit to The Rock this Valentine’s day. I’m referring to Australia’s iconic Ayers Rock and not the actor, but I certainly wouldn’t complain if I had the pleasure of meeting him. Imagine meeting The Rock at Ayers Rock – now that’s a feature on its own!

This trip won’t be a celebration of romantic love, but instead a celebration of one’s love for life, friendships, Australia and exploring nature at its best. There’s so many different kinds of love, and our article on Valentine’s day celebrates the essence of how love has evolved along with our beliefs about it – as a feeling, as a concept, and whatever else it can be. Better yet, we found that Melbourne’s perspective is as warm as its coffee.

We also collaborated with our local and very talented sketch artist Sara Sidari this month for our first Valentine’s day gift card collection. She truly is an awesome and inspiring co-creative partner.

Because I’m travelling, I also want to quickly mention our latest new tech discovery, the Ovis suitcase. This AI-enabled robotic travel companion is a game-changer that will have you rethink how you travel. I can only say that you’ll definitely be interested in buying one after you read our article this weekend.

Even though it’s the shortest month of the year, it is indeed a very memorable one. February is also Black History Month in many parts of the world, and I would like to acknowledge its importance, now more than ever. Caring for others and respecting them is a part of love and compassion for yourself and others. This month was another inspiring and exciting one, and I’m sure the rest will follow.
