Sally Lapointe: SS19
Feature by Nyanhial Yang
Sally Lapointe’s labels embodies the best of New York City (which is incidentally where she’s based!). It has an edgy quality that is at once fierce, strong and sexy. So it’s no surprise then that her ready-to-wear collections are super popular with big names like the Hadids, Jenners, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rita Ora. The hypebaes of Instagram can’t seem to get enough of her either!
Sally’s Spring Collection 2019 embraces the modern femme fatal aesthetic. There’s plenty of sheer fabrics, a strategic integration of sequins and subtle twists on familiar garments. Think the addition of marabou feathers to coats and sweaters.
Some highlights of the range include the khaki stretch crepe combo layered pant, khaki lightweight cupro high waisted shorts, embroidered oversized coat as well as two gorgeous sets - the stitched sequin and the charcoal star denim.

For this collection, Lapointe reportedly drew inspiration from East of West, a dystopian sci-fi comic series based on America’s Wild West. This inspiration was especially evident in the non-traditional shades Lapointe designed, the half round, Matrix-like sunglasses. These have been trending for a while now in the IG baddie realm, a popular look we’ve previously seen on Rihanna at the Cannes film festival and Kylie Jenner at this year’s Met Gala.
Whether you’re a fan or not, Lapointe’s collection was clearly on point this fashion month. Although all garments were clearly targeted towards a younger crowd, there are exceptionally adaptable so every fashionista can style to suit their taste. It remains to be seen where Lapointe will go with her next collection … but we can’t wait to find out!
